Lapsang Souchong has plump and thick strips, tightly knotted and straight, without bud tips or hairs. It has a dark and shiny black color, a strong and fragrant aroma, a thick and red soup color, thick and bright red leaves at the bottom. It is characterized by a mellow pine smoke aroma and the flavors of longan soup and candied dates. When brewed for drinking, whether consumed purely or made into milk tea by adding milk and sugar, the tea aroma remains undiminished, and the soup color is splendid. Or, when only sugar is added for adjustment, it has the flavor of longan soup. Its finished tea has a tightly knotted and well-proportioned appearance, a bluish-black color with a hint of brown, a relatively oily and moist texture, natural floral fragrance that is not intense but fine and implicit. The taste is rich, mellow, sweet, and refreshing, with a distinct throat rhyme, and a clear and orange-yellow soup color.
